Actually, now I'm wondering... if we had to design a chair specifically for this, would the backrest have only one (probably more reinforced) support beam on one side? That way the tail/abdomen can easily slide in there from the open side.
You would always have to sit down (and stand up) from the same side, but you wouldn't have to guide your tail through the hole tip-first every time.

I think that whichever solution we pick, there will always be a design flaw:
A. Support beam on one side: annoying to sit down from a single direction. You would have to take the room layout into consideration and simulate the situation in your head every time you go shopping for a damn chair. What if it's by the wall, what if it's by the door, should I reorganize my room to make this work, etc etc
B. Classic chair with two support beams: tail goes through like thread through the needle. Symmetrical and satisfying, but requires some wiggle action to sit.
C. No support beam, therefore no backrest, therefore a literal stool: provides all of the room for the tail, but also brings sUfFeRiNg
Could a swivel chair be designed like this though? It can spin so it may eliminate some issues.
But, we're only considering species with a single tail/abdomen. What if they have multiple tails, or one that is split into multiple sections? I'm pretty sure we would need even more variants to make more users happy.

A. D: ...and then if you're like me you just procrastinate forever, because decisions. Maybe this would be better if the backrest was designed to be easily assembled/disassembled at home, and you could switch which side is open at any time. It may not be perfect but at least you wouldn't have to worry about the room layout and the finality of the purchase.
B. wiggle action~ o.o <3
C. yep, that's an obvious "option" but the whole point is to have the backrest <3
Perhaps, yeah, that might be a good idea! :o
...*everything getting knocked over by the tail while spinning carelessly*
Oh boy XD Well, creatures with an even number of tails can use the ones with a single beam in the middle :P
