The caracal (Caracal caracal) is a medium-sized wildcat native to Africa, the Mediterranians, Iran, Pakistan, and Northwestern India.
It is characterized by its strong body, long legs, a short face, a short tail, uniform color, and its distinctive feature, its long-tufted ears. Its coat is uniformly spread in reddish tan or sandy, while the belly parts are lighter with a hint of red markings.
The caracal reaches 40-50 cm (16-20 in) in length at the shoulder and 8-19 kg (18-42 lb) in body weight.
It's typically nocturnal, active during the night. it is highly secretive and difficult to observe and lives mainly alone or in pairs.
