CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!! >O<
okay okay- you know, how last stream, I watched the opening for Gundam: GQuuuuuX, and it... ahhh.... Floored me, shall we say? ....I actually watched some of it.... it got WORSE. @.@
(okay, it turns out they DIDN'T make Char look like an old french man, whatever (they replaced LALA with an old french man!! WTH?!))
Okay, so Gundam: GQuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuX takes place in an Alternate Universe, where Char Aznable, stole the Gundam, before the original main character, Amuro Ray, even had a chance to show up on the scene. Thus, preventing the Earth Federation from developing proper Mobile Suits, accelerating Zeon's development of newtype technology, gaining the support of Anahiem Electronics, singlehandedly winning the 1-Year War for the Zeon, saving countless lives by shortening the war, AND dieing a hero's death. ...but i suspect that's only HALF true.
I figured it out -GQuuuuX is not a stand alone 'What IF' story. It's a Direct Sequel to Gundam Unicorn!
Okay, so in the climactic showdown in Gundam Unicorn, Full Frontal (yes that's a name) activates a freaking TIME DRIVE on his mobile armor, so that he can monologue about how the designs for his mobile armor were somehow derived from Beyond the Grave, from the ghost of Char, himself. Unlikely, but not impossible- it's been well established that psychic ghosts exist, as Zeta Gundam gets powered up with the souls of dead girlfriends. (i can't believe i'm NOT making that up) Plus, a Time Drive is faaar beyond any tech we've seen developed in any Gundam series. Frontal then explains the Time Drive can only access points in history where there's been a great release of energy, like Colony Drops, Psycho Frame resonance, ect... and uses time travel to show a quick montage of all these events in the UC timeline. And that's it. They unlocked the mystery of time travel, and used it to create a giant robot sized slide-show, and turned it off. ...but what if someone ELSE used one of those time portals, while they were open?
Conclusion: CHAR'S GHOST GOT IN AND F-ed THE TIMELINE! HARD!!
The most obvious point in the timeline to access, would be the Colony Drop that kicked off the war, in 0079. It would have given Ghost Char just enough time to inspire Past Char to take a closer look at Side 7, (stop that idiot pilot, Jean, from being an idiot) steal the Gundam, delete Amuro from the history books, and take out the White Base crew before they have a CHANCE to be a thorn in his side.
Thus Past Char was able to proceed thru the One-Year War, like Biff with a Future Almanac, and become the greatest war hero in the history of ever!
Only thing that confuses me, is that Past Char never meets LaLah Sune in the new timeline. The dude was willing to send the Earth into nuclear winter, to avenge her death 'properly.' I doubt he would just let her go. ...and then there's the 'Lalah effect' in GQuuuuX... apparently you hear Lalah singing, thru the white noise, when Psycomu Units resonate. But if Lalah never met Char, she never would have died tragically- so her ghost shouldn't exist in this timeline.
.....unless... 'Amuro... if only I'd met you first, before...'
JANUS, YOU IDIOT!! That gosh darn Red Comet was a RED HERRING!! LALAH'S behind the whole thing!! It all makes sense! The Altered timeline has nothing to do with the war! Lala could never choose between Amuro and Char, even after death! This much was clear in Char's Counterattack, in 0093. In this timeline, version of Amuro and Lala, that were untouched by war, would have the potential to meet. And when Char sacrifices himself in a Psycho Frame resonance explosion, his spirit would end up at Ghost Lalah's side. Lalah would finally get everything she wanted!
That diabolical swan!! O.o
