'James Spooner' waits to depart Porthmadog Harbour for Tan-y-Bwlch with a rake of Victorian coaches. By coincidence, the Ffestiniog Railway was the first narrow gauge railway anywhere in the world to not only employ locomotives but also carry passengers, having done both from the 1860s.
