Better known as Götz of The Iron Hand.
Gottfried was born into a minor noble family, but was the fifth son of his father's third wife. So inherited nothing much but a suit of armor and a military education, he became a Reichsritter.
Of course, Götz is known for his Iron Hand. After losing his right hand in a cannon accident, Götz commissioned a hand from a blacksmith, it had a complex system of gears and locks that allowed him to hold a sword and write with a pen.
