Do you use shoegoo by any chance, Chilly? I was wondering how it would bond the soles to the foam. I just aquired some soling from a local cobbler as you recomended. Turned out there was one within walking distance and I didn't even know it! *facepalm* But anyways, the cobbler brought up a good point...does shoegoo adhere to the foam okay? Or should I go ahead and apply a layer, let it dry, then glue the sole so that it has somethign to really adhere to?
I haven't used that one yet, but I hear good things about it I need to look into an epoxy for a particular job soon. I use a contact rubber cement. I brush it on (with gloves) both the midsole and shoe, let it dry til it's tacky, line up both halves, press them together, and then firmly inside of the shoe.
If the shoe curves up, don't glue down the curve. You can cut a wedge of foam out and glue that underneath.
I use for a mid sole the dark grey rubber foam mats found in the carpet section of a hardware store. Once the fur is on, it'll wrap over it and secure underneath.
