"Holy shit, you're huge!"
"Yeah, don't remind me. My feet haven't stopped hurting for the last two months. There needs to be a rule: body parts can't hurt unless you can see them." Released from her sister's hug, Krista waddled (there was no other word for it, by her own admission) into Jenna's house.
"Think you'll be able to do the stairs down to the basement?"
"I can manage, I'll just whine about it the whole time."
"Same MO as last time, then."
"Just wait till you and Gwen have kids."
"Hey, if we're having them, she's carrying them. I am quite happy to remain barren, thank you very much!"
With Jenna's help, Krista made her way down the narrow steps to the basement, where Jenna kept her home studio. All was in readiness: the backdrop glowed from the many bright lights aimed at it. A velour stool sat in the middle, a light sheen on the fabric. A tripod stood, an expensive-looking camera affixed at its peak. All that was missing was the subject.
"Easy does it," the elder beagle reassured her sister as they made it to the bottom step. "Now, will you need a hand getting changed?"
"Probably. I can get my dress off okay, but the costume will take a bit of wriggling to get into."
"Sounds fun!" Jenna replied with a teasing grin. Her mirth, however, was short-lived, as Krista's dress slipped off her and the process of replacing it with a white one-piece began.
"Nnngh! Nnngh!" The beagles grunted in tandem as they tugged the fabric over Krista's belly. "Fuck! When did you buy this?" Jenna groaned.
"Last week."
"Try last month."
"They said it would stretch-Hey! Don't step on the train!"
"Sorry!"
After an eternity, the fabric finally stretched over Krista's expanding form. Krista slid her arms into the sleeves while Jenna pulled the front over her now extremely generous bust.
"Bit tighter than I expected there, too."
"Spring a leak on my backdrop and you're cleaning it up."
"Very nice!"
The pair breathed a sigh of relief when the garment finally settled into place. In place of the stereotypical skirt twirl, Krista adopted an exaggerated fashion model pose. "What do you think?"
"That I'm not looking forward to helping you out of it."
"Smartass."
"Love you too, Snoopy." With a genuine smile, Jenna added "You do look good in it, though."
"Thanks."
"Just one thing missing..." Jenna went over to a shelf and retrieved a small loop of golden garland. "Every angel needs a halo."
"Aww, thanks!" Krista draped it over her head, arranging it like a wreath. "Look okay?"
"Perfect! Now let's get you into position."
Krista settled onto the stool with gratitude. "Fair warning, I probably won't be getting up for a while, so I hope you have a lot of sitting poses for me."
"Deal. Now then, a little towards me...nope, bit more to your left." Jenna reached out and positioned Krista's hands on her belly. "And bend your feet up a bit - perfect." The beagle rushed over to the camera, taking her position behind the viewfinder. "Okay, first a few test shots to make sure the lighting works." A series of shutter clicks were followed by a stretch of contemplative silence. "Not bad, not bad. Let me adjust this one..." She pivoted one tall light a fraction of an inch, then returned to the camera. More clicks. "Now we're talking. Heh, I used to think that whole thing about pregnant women glowing was bullshit, but you've sure got a glow to you."
"It's the halo."
I can't believe it's been almost five months since I last uploaded something of Krista. This is the first of three pregnancy portraits drawn by
novalynxa, which I'll be uploading throughout the rest of May(ternity). More art and story to follow!
