The big rat... what was I even thinking back then? It's a miracle I didn't get slaughtered then and there, after it nearly killed Barnubus with a single blow.

Who am I kidding? I hardly thought at all in those days - just threw myself into danger, full of reckless excitement.

This is a very early sketch from our first session, and one that'd end up being terribly unrepresentative of Ferny's combat style going forward as she slowly specced into a gunner. So here's a little drip-fed worldbuilding:

The setting Seas of Adventure took place in had a place known as the Isles of Mist, where the barrier between worlds was thin and lost sailors drifted in or wrecked - or the greatest sailors could sail out of this world and into a new legend. Intended by our DM April to be a sort of sidequest hub, this never came to pass. Still, it ended up being a key component of the lore of the land, and of the villain's plot.

Anyway, that's how we ended up killing a rat ogre and befriending a bunch of skrunkly skaven in our first adventure :3
