So, in my quest to get back into arting, I have submitted to the mighty and intimidation of digital medium!!! After getting a screen protector with some texture, I am finally beginning to warm up to the whole shebang.
Therapy has helped me give myself grace and I’m learning to just finish things. Something I still struggle with - and especially with my own fursona - but am actively working on. Motherhood has certainly fueled this self-improvement motivation as well as my digital art movement. I am far more confident in my traditional artistic ability, however, returning to traditional media is currently near impossible due to the two cubs. Pencils to break, erasers to rip and eat, paper to shred, colors to splash over everything … my office is a toddler’s play-haven and though there are precautions taken to keep the feral beasts at bay, their constant need for attention makes it beyond difficult to get in or stay within my office to art traditionally.
Digital takes all of these issues away. Well, there is still a pencil to break - and my eldest has already obliterated one (quite impressively so, I might add) - but it was a quick replacement and a lesson well-learned for momma. But I can take my art anywhere. I can save work that cannot be touched. There is no mess, no fuss.
Naturally, it is the best option if I want to return to art sooner than in a decade - at least!
So, I’ve been practicing by gifting arts to my local furry Telegram chat. It’s been a lot of fun!
Here is Prize!
