Unknown magical force has altered your body… When the Cursed Moon rises, certain changes begin to manifest within you...
Shape Shifter Curse is a Minecraft mod which focuses on gradually transforming into different forms based on vanilla creatures under the influence of the "Cursed Moon" and "Instincts" mechanics, gaining their unique abilities and drawbacks - each form with independent models and (potential) special animations
Currently, mod includes the following progressive forms:
- A certain winged mammal from caves
- An amphibious predator found in lush caves
- A feline hunter hidden in jungles
And also:
- A special form related to amethyst shards
This mod is open source and free. It still in early development, with more forms to be added later

Now that is a mod that not only add a mechanic but kinda add some lore to the person playing the game. I can say it's quite the unique touch it would add to the game, and I'm looking forward for new updates, and if you need help with anything that isn't on the coding part of the mod, I will be here ^^
Ooo... If you want to go the feral route, might be worth having a fully quadrupedal form to add another unique gameplay variant, maybe for something like foxes or wolves— (Not sure if you've seen models like this before, but here's a good example if you're interested: https://twitter.com/DrPineap/status.....07588366807401 )
One point about the current features: It might be a good idea to make all of the first level instincts unavoidable (or avoidable if you prefer that). Right now, it's impossible to avoid darkness, but eating raw meat is entirely up to the player. (Alternatively, you could have instincts cause involuntary actions, like eating that raw meat without the player's input...~)

Thanks for the suggestion!
Feral form is planned, but currently due to limitations with the playerAnimator, I can only create custom animations based on the original character bone and cannot scale the bone, which restricts it's visual presentation.
I'll continue researching solutions to implement this.

So uh, if you delete a world and create a new one with the same name, the curse stays but you don't get a new book. This should PROBABLY not happen, and get fixed.
No idea where the data saves either, so can't fix it easily manually.
Other than that this is a really fun and good mod, just a bit sad it's incompatible with such a major mod as geckolib.

really cool mod once i figured out how to get it to work. i do have some feedback though. forms like axolotl or snow fox that jump high almost always result in taking fall damage upon landing. and with the snow fox, the mention of the snow magic makes it still feel weird that you need a shovel to get snowballs. id recommend empty handed punching snow should produce snowballs when fox
