They wanted a tale in which Bastemon, the Digimon occasionally featured in my gallery and stories, would go on to enchant and affect not only a character in a RPG...but the player controlling it too. As someone in the upper tier, they get a fic per month, but they were generous enough to get a matching illustration and send it my way for you all to enjoy! Kudos to them. ;)
The artist here is Z-62 , a good bud of mine and fellow hypno-enthusiast who had drawn Bastemon prior...so it's no surprise they did a good job with her this time too. If you like their work, why not check out their Patreon? https://www.patreon.com/ZMT62
Now, how come Bastemon popped up? Read on and find out!

BASTEMON BATTLE
This game was rather conventional, though mostly fun.
Jason had bought it on sale at the behest of some of his friends, calling it an “instant-classic” and a “good old throwback to J-RPG's of yore”. As a gamer, he did have a soft spot for those old-timey turn-based kind of experiences, the ones in which numbers went up and his brain would go, as they said in the memes, “brrr”. The sprite-work was pretty darn good, very precise and striking as he went on to advance through the tale at his own pace, doing side-quests and trying to grind up his levels a little.
Some would say that doing so while he only had his hero in his party, Erdrick being his name, was a bit of a waste. The start of the game was never quite difficult nor all that long to begin with, yet seeing his level and stats increase was certainly something he enjoyed, a happy place of sort as he destroyed slimes, skeletons and goblins, the usual kind of low-tier trash mob that populated many traditional RPG fares. Armed with a bronze sword and a wooden shield along with plain clothes, he was far-removed from the endgame with crazy armors and weapons like say Excalibur or Masamune...but he enjoyed himself nonetheless.
Right now at level 8, he already knew the spell ember and shield self, not quite useful here given how weak the random encounters were, but it was still progress as he continued slowly but surely as he was in a cave populated by goblins and bats, trying to find a missing horseshoe cargo for a side-quest which would probably reward him with perhaps 100 gold pieces maximum...barely enough for the iron sword. Still, he was in no hurry as he got further into the caves, destroying any opposition until he reached the end, one in which many crystals could be seen in their high-quality pixelation. However, the boss there seemed...unconventional.
“Oh, a hero...” the fiercer though certainly different-looking enemy said, someone much more befit a desert environment than this one. Clad in harem attire, a bedlah for the initiated, she was a red-haired catgirl with leopard-printed pantaloons, huge claws upon her feet and hands, midriff bare, tons of jewelry but also a rather sultry-looking body. Even amidst high-quality sprites was she much more detailed, almost looking cel-shaded in comparison as she was standing before Erdrick tall and proud. “What a delight~”
The classic pulsing of the screen, the music shifting, this would be a battle as her theme was Middle-Eastern oriented, with lots of dry instruments, drums and cymbals. It was catchy and her sprite was even more detailed in the fight screen as her curves, that of her hips and chest, were more pronounced. Beneath her facial veil did she smirk, the rings and bracelets shifting around with every bits of her idle animation as Jason knew that she'd be a tough cookie. Maybe a future party member? Part of him kinda hoped so, but this was something to worry about later as right now she was a boss fight.
Would shielding himself prove reliable, however? It would mitigate physical damage, but a part of him thought that perhaps she'd try elemental stuff. All that red on her top, her hair and her claws hinted at fire damage as she just kept on subtly dancing with her animation. She really was Arabian Nights themed, complete with the stereotypical belly dancer outfit and animation, though Jason didn't complain about that. Her feline ears, her twin tails swishing around, she was patiently waiting for her turn, her pose shifting around as the animators even had made it so her jewelry shone in the near-lifelike pixel sprite she possessed. She was sort of a work of art in some respect.
Maybe ember would prove useless here. It would normally do more damage and he did have all of his MP due to his latest level up, Erdrick now being LVL 9, but given his assessment it could be a waste of a turn. Yet as he hesitated, perhaps with the faintest hint of him just wanting to look at this...”Bastemon”, he thought for a moment to try asking his friends about her, but then his gamer pride kicked in. Asking for help so soon would be ridiculous and besides he was skilled enough as a gamer to understand that early-game bosses were often pushovers. Yet as he did wait during all this heavy thinking, something occurred in the form of a text box appearing.
“We don't have to fight. Why should we? Do you really want to hurt me, someone you just met?” Bastemon said in her dialogue box, a rather intriguing notion as such events in games usually meant that there could be more. Jason was now curious, thinking that perhaps this was one of those optional instances in which not fighting or simply waiting could yield results. Maybe she'd grow impatient and gain a debuff...or maybe there would be no fight. He had saved prior anyway as her dialogue continued with the press of a button. “I don't want to hurt you either. Far from it. You're kind of cute~”
Her animation changed there and then, her own idle animation turning into a belly dance, complete with hips swinging, beckoning arms and rolling shoulders. The glints of rings upon her claws, the slight wobble of her breasts and even the subtle undulation from her stomach were exquisitely animated, brought to life with surprising details as Jason certainly did not mind looking and waiting if only to see more dialogue...and more of that dance if he was to be entirely honest with himself.
“We could get to know each other. We could even before friends...very special friends indeed~” Bastemon continued as Jason did not need to really think about pressing the button to continue her dialogue. Her palms were clasped, her hips spun in tight circles as she then arched her back, rolling her stomach. It was astonishing how much effort must have been put into this mesmerizing motion, yet as he watched her and her text, he missed out on a cue in the upper left corner of the screen.
Erdrick is now charmed.
It was as if she belonged in a completely different title, a game from another series as she was so much more complex than anything he had seen so far. Her hair swished around, her lips turned into a light grin, one claw beckoning for him to get closer and to look despite the menu still being on the lower part of the screen. Even the dance animation from that game with the half-genie heroine seemed to pale in comparison, it was just that good.
“See? No need to fight. I don't want to hurt you and you certainly don't want to hurt me...” Bastemon continued, her sprite herself getting closer to the hero as Jason was completely captivated by what was happening. The games which he played that displayed such variations could be counted on one hand, and even then. He needed to know what would happen next, what she would do or say after. Yet once again did he miss out a cue...
Erdrick is now infatuated.
Her large claw-bearing hands rested behind her head, passing through her silky red locks as her eyes were akin to beacon of intimacy and mischief. She was beautiful and she knew it, an obvious understanding of her own looks shared with Erdrick, even Jason right now as he didn't even feel his controller in his hands now. His eyes were glued to the screen, to her as her pendulum motion with her hips was downright ensorcelling.
“Such a good hero...don't worry about a thing. If I meant any harm, I would have attacked by now...you're perfectly safe~” Bastemon continued as the music slowed down, its rhythm matching the sway of those hips as her tatooed midsection seemed to glisten and glow, her navel like a sparkling tan diamond as it was hard not to look at her, to not admire the beauty that wasn't just from graphics but aesthetics as well. “Don't worry about a thing. No need to think too hard...or even at all~”
Erdrick is now hypnotized.
The screen pulsated slightly, the music almost becoming erotic in its undertones and it wasn't just Erdrick that was being affected. Jason didn't even register that he was only pressing the button when she spoke. He could almost read her text in her voice, in how he imagined it within his mind. A sultry, somewhat teasing tone that would melt down his heart and ears as he focused only on her. He didn't even see the text in the upper left nor even how the background had subtly shifted into translucent spirals. How she occupied a good chunk of the center of the screen now...or how odd it was that she seemed to look past the screen and towards him.
“You've been so patient and understanding. Thank you~” Bastemon continued, the battle menu completely disappearing to make more place for her. Even Erdrick's sprite was gone as far as he was concerned now as Jason looked at her unabashedly, completely smitten. She was so lovely, so incredible to look at. He barely registered much of anything else, his body a touch limp and his jaw slack, only kept together and anchored by the sublime and beautiful Bastemon. “Now whenever you hear this music, my theme...you will know to not attack me. I am your ally, your friend, a most important character in this story...”
That seemed like a good idea. If they put in such efforts on her, then assuredly she would come back and pop up later. The boss battle must have been a test, a shift in the game. Maybe she'd join his party, maybe she was a love interest...maybe she'd perform more later in the game. Her words sunk in, for now he knew not to attack her, her theme committed to memory as a huge grin could be seen beneath her veil.
“My time is precious, but we shall see each other again...sooner rather than later...” the belly dancing catgirl hinted at as her sprite returned to the former resolution and idle animation from the start of this would-be-fight. “But for now...”
Having finished her dance, Bastemon disappears.
It took a while for Jason to come back to, the surprising yet very pleasant effect of discovering her subtly paralyzing his thought process. As he regained some modicum of control and self-awareness, his trance dissipating, he dearly hoped to see her soon as he continued his side-quest. He could see now why his friends liked the game this much as he might need to pick up the pace with the story now. Grinding was fun and necessary, but now he had a goal in mind.
To see Bastemon again as fast as possible.
