And here it is, my first actual MerMay post of 2025!
While all mermaids are beautiful in their own way, I can't help but be drawn especially by unique, exotic variants... so naturally, I was absolutely enthralled by this design, based not on a regular fish, but on the Bearded Fireworm, an aquatic invertebrate in nature, clad in stinging "fur"!
Although I like to think that the "fur" on this mermaid only stings in response to unwanted company, and causes only mild, sensual tingles instead when hugging a partner~
