To be fair, it’s not like Travis has met anyone whose first instinct was to deck him… Right?
Personally, if someone struck your upper body (upper chest, shoulders, face, etc) from the front of you, while you were standing up unaware, you’d end up falling backwards, towards the direction you were struck from, yes?
Even if Travis were heavier, I don’t think he would keep standing if he didn’t want to fight.

Except Travis wasn’t *born* a tiger. He’s self-conscious about his “exposed” body, he ran up a tree in fear of a cat less than half his size and got thrown out of the house by his mother. You’re not going to say a female human can lift the weight of a “real” person male tiger that’s taller than her, are you?
Basically this. It hasn't quite clicked in Travis's mind yet that he IS 500 lbs. of pure killing machine yet. (and yes, he is much larger and stronger than the female and would win pretty easily if he fought back) He's just had a lifetime of conditioning from his mom to be very passive and conflict-avoidant (which I've experience firsthand and have seen in several other IRL friendships). Dude just doesn't fight back. (unless you're lawn gnomes or a pot roast) I think all he really wants right now is to curl up into a little ball in the corner and have a nice good cry.
A lot of his story arc throughout the comic will be the lad discovering his inner (and outer) strength and making the most of his new lease on life. As for now, though, he's basically a big -ol scaredy-cat. He's also not used to tiger customs, where fighting is a form of play/bonding and getting to know each other. Keep in mind it's still day 1 as a tiger for Travis, and he's had quite the long day as well. He's tired, stressed, and exhausted from everything that's happened. Tigers are also built to sleep for 16 hours per day, and Travis hasn't gotten a good catnap in since he woke up this morning. So by this point he's probably getting sleepy as well (though he hasn't caught onto that yet)
There's lots of clips of smaller animals fending off bigger ones through intimidation or being extra aggressive, so I don't think it's crazy unnatural for the female, especially one who's an experienced fighter, to fend off a larger but more inexperienced Travis. We'll learn more about her in the next few comics :3

I just hope he hits her back one day, and hard. It's true that there are a few examples of smaller animals occasionally warding off a larger one, but that's largely got to do with the larger one not wanting to put the effort into fighting and/or killing the smaller one.
Even so, you'd think he'd realize that he could win easily if he fought, and that this fact would give him a self-confidence he hasn't had before. The only reason he wouldn't realize that is time, as you said he just turned into a tiger. Hopefully, he'll be asserting dominance within a week, two tops. :D

When it comes introducing a new feline to an established group, experience told me it was going to start with a dispute over dominance, but to go down *that* easily… Travis should consider himself lucky that no-one he knew was around to see it.
He probably might want to lodge a complaint with upper management and/or Lucius about being beat up by his “roommate” though…
