I know, my brain did weird there.
Well, we're furries, so "doing a weird" is kinda our raison d'etre already, but still...
Also yes, Eww. Not my thing either. That would literally yuck my yum, personally.
Was just funny to read those words and get that particular wrong idea

Despite the fact that my diet is roughly 90% meat, I do enjoy a good salad. Tomatoes, cucumber, some coarse ground black pepper for that extra little bit of flavor, along with a few other things; bacon, diced ham, croutons, some mixed cheddar, diced boiled egg, some diced pancetta, couple other things that catch my fancy, topped with ranch.. Hell with it, the burger's probably healthier than my salads..
my ex's would do this. be on a road trip to the beach and we'd stop at a truck-stop diner (real romantic I know) and they'd order a salad. why do women do this? you can have chicken fried steak with gravy and sides. but you order salad and water. hunny I'm paying, eat whatever
As a man in relationship with another man, I can safely say it's probably not only a woman thing, but I can guess two answers - either they want to eat light for diet / body image reasons (which is a thing that happens to people especially when they're nervous about dating) or she doesn't want to "be a burden", she'd feel guilty if she ate more if the date didn't work out.
I know I myself have done this for the latter reason - I've felt like don't want to cost my love more than I feel I should sometimes.
In either case, the tl;dr is "insecurity", could happen to anyone, especially on a first date.

I always told them to get whatever they want. I've never been the type to let anyone go hungry. they'd get a salad or something small and then pick at it, or end up helping me eat my food. you can eat like a rabid wolf around me and I wont care. I'd rather somone get full and be content, then worrying about things like body imagery. I'm not Fabio, if she's willing to go out with my ugly mug she's free to eat her fill and we'll both be happy
Naw, man, don't think it's all you, it's a habit lots of people fall into.
Referencing myself again, I used to order small while with my husband even partway in our 23 years and still counting.
Anyway, im moving on, it's not a big thing at all, just wanted to offer extra perspective, take it as you wish.
Still a great comic in the works and you sound like a good guy. I'm gonna ll get back to enjoying Eric's fine work 🙂

Y'know, you're right.
I was having a discussion above with another furry about why a date might order the least costly thing on the menu despite the intentions of their date (which could only be mutually good from this lad).
She still may be wrestling with insecurity as to how quickly they began this relationship, worried that she's moving too fast for her own comfort. Valid, and heavy on the mind.
I think we can look forward to a lot of careful and compassionate reflection and a good ice-breaking laugh or two to help fuse their relationship tonight... then they start fucking in the backseat of their car.
(also, doing that they would both totally demolish the upholstery in a frenzy of body fluids and errant quills )
