This is a social satire and parody for my Lustitia series. I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to write my social commentary on AI generation on arts and videos. Here, Toshineko Hirozaki has found out that someone is attempting to use AI against him.
Toshineko Hirozaki, Agent Haena, Ookami, Itachi, Kitsune, Sharpwolf, Facilus, John Sneakie, Masayoshi Ryuzo, Nezumi Akira, Shinjitsu Akira, Peludo Ladron, Bella Dedalera, and the anthropomorphic rats belong to me.
Lucario is a Pokemon character who belongs to Nintendo and Game Freak.
STORY:
Toshineko Hirozaki and the rest of his agents walked rapidly down the hallway. Agent Itachi has received intelligence saying that Lucario had snuck into one of their hideouts and managed to steal critical information. A brave anthropomorphic wolf soldier managed to record the whole thing, and his superiors managed to send the video to Agent Itachi.
As soon as Toshineko opened the door, they were met with a huge, spacious room that was filled with a large monitor and military personnel working on their computers. “Agent Itachi, report!” Toshineko said, his voice commanding attention and respect.
Itachi saluted in response. “Sir, we’ve received a video from our soldier. Lucario has infiltrated one of our hideouts, and managed to steal documents containing critical intelligence. The soldier was the only person who managed to survive Lucario’s onslaught before he recorded himself live.”
Agent Sharpwolf rolled her eyes. “Oh, Lucario… He never learns to quit, does he? Such a shame. Shall I come up with some punishments, sir?”
“Sharpwolf, no time for your charms now,” Agent Ookami said, crossing his arms.
“Send in the video on the monitor,” Toshineko ordered.
The monitor showed an anthropomorphic wolf soldier, looking bruised and panting as he was in a gloomy hideout. “Unit #209482 reporting. I’ve encountered Lucario intruding on our hideout and is now attacking us. To anybody who is watching, send in reinforcements. We need-” The soldier turned and gasped when he heard footsteps from behind.
Lucario ran to him as the wolf’s ears perked and his tail froze. “No… No, wait! Aaah!” The video then ended right there.
Toshineko’s right ear drooped and he raised his left eyebrow while looking at the video. “What the…?”
“Lucario is there, sir!” Agent Itachi said. “We need to prepare for battle!”
“I will call up reinforcements,” Agent Ookami said, grabbing his walkie-talkie.
Agent Haena squinted his eyes. “I don’t know how Lucario managed to find us here.” Haena drew his knife and flashed his maniacal grin. “but I’m ready for him.”
Agent Kitsune’s tail lashed as he chuckled before blowing a puff of smoke. “Looks like it’s time for me to show that pup his place.”
“Me too,” Agent Sharpwolf said, drawing out her knife. “I’m ready to give that pup the most brutal punish-”
“Guys!” Toshineko shouted, raising his right hand, gaining everybody’s attention. “Calm down. I don’t think that's Lucario who’s attacking us.”
They cocked their heads in response. “Why do you think so, sir?” Agent Itachi said.
“Guys, look,” Toshineko said, pointing at Lucario in the paused section of the video. “it’s an AI-generated 3D model of him. I can tell it was AI due to how… overly smooth and glossy it looked.”
“I don’t care what model that is, sir,” Sharpwolf said, baring her teeth. “It killed our men!”
Toshineko shook his head. “No, I don’t think so. In fact, I don’t think this is even a real video at all.”
“What?” Agent Ookami said, widening his eyes as his tail puffed up. “You mean it’s fake, sir?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” Toshineko said, nodding. “More importantly, this is likely an elaborate prank.”
Agent Haena cocked his head. “A… prank, general?”
“Why would someone prank us like that?” Kitsune said. “Do they have a death wish?”
“Yeah,” Sharpwolf said, nodding. “and why us specifically?”
“I think someone out there has attempted to use AI as a diversionary tactic, so that they can take advantage of us and strike us at our weakest point.”
The agents looked at each other and back at their general. “Sir… Please tell us you’re joking,” Itachi said, trying his best to refrain from laughing, but couldn’t hide his smile. “You’re telling us that Lucario would try to fool us with AI-generated garbage?”
Toshineko nodded. “Exactly.”
The agents, except Itachi, who was laughing, looked with concern. “Why are you acting like this is completely normal, sir?” Ookami said.
“Listen, guys, the fact is, technology has evolved to a point where pretty much anything can look legitimate.” Toshineko pulled out his iPhone and tapped on the Photos app. “For example, while I was looking for images that showed Lucario in our military base, I came across this.” Toshineko showed his agents the photo on the monitor showing Lucario walking on a refined military base. In fact, it looked… too refined.
The image of Lucario also looked too smooth and blurry for them to think it was real. The lack of consistent shadows and lightning on his body, as well as the floor and walls, reflected that. It looked too bright for a military base on the night it was taken.
The agents’ ears and tails drooped as their eyes and mouths widened. “What the hell?” Kitsune said.
“What is with the smoothness of this picture?” Ookami said.
“And why does Lucario look a bit… ripped?” Sharpwolf said, noticing Lucario’s abs looking like somebody could grind meat with.
“That, my friend,” Toshineko said, pointing with his hand, “is the result of an anatomical error from the AI. Apparently, the AI didn’t bother to check to see whether Lucario’s body proportions were correct. From what I can tell, Lucario never worked out at the gym, or looked as if he was about to perform wrestling with someone on TV.”
Itachi sighed and shook his head. “Seriously? I thought Lucario was better than this.”
“Oh, he is, actually,” Toshineko said, matter-of-factly, causing everyone to look at him. “It must be Lucario’s psychological warfare. He knew that AI had been used for deception, and knew how to use it in order to distract us. I even looked at a video that supposedly had surveillance footage of Lucario sneaking into our hideout and knocking out our soldiers disguised as Carmonian soldiers. I was so convinced that I was thinking about sending a warning to our soldiers on the walkie-talkie…”
Toshineko averted his gaze as his ears drooped. “... only to find out that Lucario wasn’t actually there. It’s a very cunning strategy.”
“Uh-huh,” Kitsune said, sounding so unconvinced that if someone were to tell him that the sky is blue, he would not believe it. “Sir, why do we have the feeling that this strategy is convoluted?”
Toshineko sighed and closed his eyes. He knew it would not be easy trying to convince them. Looking back at them, he said, “Look, guys, the fact of the matter is, AI has the potential to look as realistic as possible. The fact that Lucario, of all people, understood that means that he has gotten more clever than we realize. And I know Lucario would be pulling off insane and unpredictable stunts like this to throw us off.”
“Unpredictable, sir?” Itachi said. “This AI strategy of his is nothing more than a childish prank! He’s lucky he even survived after pulling this off!”
“Nevertheless, I believe it’s very important that we all stay alert to this kind of thing. We may never know if what we see on the internet is real or not.” Toshineko gave a smirk that everyone knew meant there was good news from him. “Besides, we have reliable AI detection technology at our disposal. And if Lucario could pull this off, why not us?”
The agents stroked their fur while thinking. “Well, when you put it this way, sir,” Kitsune said, grinning. “that does sound… very cunning indeed. Perhaps we can use AI to frame Sir Aaron for… having Joseph arrested.”
Toshineko’s smirk grew. “Exactly. Lucario may have fooled us, but two can play that game. Agents, come with me to the conference room. I have an idea.”
The agents saluted and said, “Yes, sir!”
Meanwhile, at the Lustitia hideout, Lucario was at the monitor room, checking with Facilus and hackers, all of whom were anthropomorphic rats. “Have you managed to send the AI image of me sneaking in, Richard?”
Richard turned and nodded. “Yes, sir. The strategy is working perfectly. Toshineko and his agents have no doubt fallen for our trap!”
“Excellent. Send in the-” Lucario was interrupted when they heard a notification sound.
“Oh, wait, sir! We’re getting a video link. It looks like Toshineko has a message.”
Lucario gasped, then growled as he clenched his fist. “Toshineko… Put it on screen.”
Lucario’s agents entered. “Heya, boss!” John Sneakie said, smiling. “What’s going on here?”
“Has Toshineko surrendered?” Masayoshi said.
“If he hasn’t, I’m kicking his ass… hard,” Nezumi said, cracking his knuckles.
Peludo and Bella smiled at each other. “No hay problema, señor,” Peludo said, stroking his mustache as his tail lashed. “We’ll take care of him, won’t we, guys?”
"Hai," said Shinjitsu.
“Toshineko has a message for us, guys. Be prepared.”
The agents widened their eyes, and their expressions turned serious, knowing that something was up. “Oh, don’t worry, boss,” John said, as the agents focused on the monitor. “We’re ready for what Toshi has in store for us.”
“Yeah,” Bella said. “That pendejo won’t trick us this time.”
“If Toshineko thinks he can scare us like this, he is dead wrong,” Nezumi said before the monitor pulled up a video that shows Toshineko.
When he said, “Hello, Lucario” his mouth suddenly got bigger and his green eyes bugged out cartoonishly, leading to everyone, including Lucario, screaming in horror before they paused the video as their tails puffed up and their ears perked. Masayoshi’s wings also perked, though due to his distance, his wings didn’t knock anybody. Facilus held on his chest, like he was having a heart attack at such a young age.
“What the hell was that?” John said, panting.
“Who the hell came up with this?” Nezumi said.
“Dios mio,” Peludo said. “it looks like yet another AI-generated slop on the internet.”
"Ugh, another one?" Shinjitsu groaned.
“I’m surprised Toshineko wanted to pull off this stunt,” Facilus said.
Lucario breathed a sigh of relief, then annoyance as he shook his head. “Yeah, I know Toshineko was better than that. Does he really think we would fall for that?”
“It might be our psychological warfare used against us, sir,” Masayoshi said.
“Maybe so. Agents, to the conference room.”
Back at the Toshineko Army headquarters, Toshineko sighed as he rubbed his forehead while he was at his office. He had just gotten an intelligence informing him that Lucario and his agents managed to foil yet another one of his false flag operations. The feline general knew that horrible AI-generated video wouldn’t work, but Agent Itachi insisted. Things could not get any worse.
As soon as he said that, he got a notification on his iPhone. It was a link to a picture. As soon as he tapped on it, he saw an AI-generated image of Lucario wearing the same outfit, only with him holding a sign that says, “Operation AI: Failed.” Toshineko let out a loud groan as he slammed his head on the desk.
