First of all: I'm jealous, I so wanna see one too.
Second: I assume they used chum to atract the shark and therefore it is very curious about anything emitting electric field, like metal.
Once I read a study of some scientists following a chumtrail in a little submarine with great whites around. They weren't even bothered by them when they were slightly outside the chumtrail but the sharks actually bit the sub when they were inside of it.

Yeah they used chum ... the shark was following a bait line they had over the side of the boat too

No big surprise there how should one be able to find a great white otherwise. But is is somewhat annoying that normal divers simply don't get the chance to observe their relaxed natural bahavior.

True ... got to see some ragged tooth sharks all calm and just swimming around scuba diving at the aquarium; awesome experience
