Trying to practice smudging and where to give values and such. Sadly, i need more experience on how to emphasize regions of value besides giving it away blatantly *i.e his brows shown with pencil rather than a darker smudged lining i guess >_>*
But its my first with smudging and what better to test it on than Sonic style, something i know im good at enough to practice styles of art in it XD
Tips to smudging or references are greatly appreciated @.=.@

Uhmmm, how about that fact that he looks exactly like Shadow eh, eh??
Boy, now that's the challenge of the century. A greyscale illustration of Mephilles and Shadow, and you can SOMEHOW tell who's who!
Gratifying giggles aside, I really enjoy that shading style, it looks grainy and sharp, like bits of sand. You make a good contrast when you switched to that "strike-through" technique for the gloves. Hah! I think you've made quite a good point evidentially: Sonic style is good for isolating a shading/toning style and figuring out what works and what doesn't for your personal intentions.

Greyscaled Shadow, people wonder who he is besides Silver.
Black and Red, that -has- to be Sonic.
Dumb town people are dumb. The way you can experiment with simple characters have benefit since theres so many things you can do with them. I try for values or practicing dynamic angles or landscapes. Thanks for your comment! :D
