"Not many people come this far... just to see me," the creature's voice echoes inside of your mind. As if it is not speaking, but rather transmitting each word. "They usually seek me out because of what I can do for them..." A flicker, and its head turns to the ground. The particles floating around it, almost like static, reality crackling in its wake. It intensifies for a moment, and there's a glimpse of blank eyes in the monster's sockets.
"Even then, they usually run when they see me. Well, not me... but what I bring. Father once said... the mind cannot comprehend what I do to the world, and what you see now... is just what your brain can understand. Not even I know what it truly looks like..."
It almost speaks in riddles, yet it simultaneously seems lost in thought. A blink as it shakes its head.
"You don't look at me like I'm... wrong. You just seem curious... come, I have much to show..."
It reaches out an arm - stable, without the warping of space itself that flows freely from its wings, from its side, like an aura flaring to life. There's a clear kindness in its malformed heart, one that defies the reality around it harder than its very being already does.
Perhaps the rumours were always wrong.
Oh dear Depsurrel PMD Fanfiction lore is way too extensive for me to get into, as is everything involving Kets the Merritch, or the Missingno if you prefer. So just have a brief snippit of the sweetheart that Kets actually is. Character wise, in contrast to a lot of interpretations, Kets is incredibly pure and kind, even to the many who wish to do him harm. Kets is only one of five "glitchmon" OCs I have, and is by far the weakest of the four, being a glass cannon in combat. The most powerful trait he has, however ,is his ability to duplicate things in complete defiance of the laws of physics. It has an incredible toll on his body and mind, yet of course, it makes him very desirable to less scrupulous parties and individuals - the other half of people just think he's a freak of nature that shouldn't exist. He just wants friends though and he never gets them because people are mean.
Design wise, Phoenix and I wanted something more... traditional, obviously, but coming up with a design that felt unique to this interpretation while paying homage to those that came before it AND taking into account Missingno's traits was... very difficult. We settled on a sort of reptilian creature, with traits of Aerodactyl and Cubone, and of course the glitchy texture was always going to be there. And yes, it exists in-universe. It's explained as being your brain's way of comprehending reality itself literally breaking apart. Is it the most literal or accurate interpretation? Well, no, but if you're looking for an eldritch horror glitchmon, that's for one of the other four. Plus, in-game, R/B Missingno really isn't all that threatening. In fact, it's probably one of the most harmless glitch Pokémon. Literally it does is warp your sixth item stat and screw up the Hall of Fame, and even the latter is technically somewhat fixable with ACE.
Yes, I'm a Gen 1 glitch nerd. Literally the best part of those games are how they are just not programmed at all.
