I wrote this piece on-the-fly, with some other things that I really should be working on, disappointedly pouting at me from other windows. It's just a bit of a Crusty Gen-Xer grump on my part about the way that the deliberate conflation of respect with common courtesy cause both to be locked together in an ultimately futile, drowning struggle...
EDIT: The use of "cause" in the previous sentence was actually a typo. I had meant to use the past tense, but then I realised that the present tense can work just as well, if not slightly better. Maybe Respect and Common Courtesy haven't completely drowned, just yet.
Maybe we're still morbidly watching them drown, whilst munching on some Orville Redenbacher's.
