after order 66, he abandons the army, not willing to be a pawn of the Empire. He heard somewhere along the grape vine that he and the other clones where... well, cloned, from a Mandalorian. So he set out to become one.

Eventually finding Bo-katan, she... was less then happy about a clone trying to join her ranks, but he earned his way into her clan, and a cause to fight the Empire.
