Sokar of Arneria, the Gryphon, on his final reference sheet.
Sokar is a tabletop roleplaying character created and played by me
brazato in the "Hopes and Treasures in Beastworld" campaign, directed by
toboek9, using the D&D5E system, and set in the "Delvers Guide to the Beastworld" setting by Heartleaf Games (https://thedelversguide.com/). Sokar is a Ranger-Druid Gryphon (specifically a multiclass "Carrion Master" Ranger and a "Moon Cyrcle" Druid) coming from the deserts of Beylik, in the continent of Arneria, Beastworld.
DESCRIPTION
Sokar has the appearance of an anthropomorphic gryphon. He has a tall body (about 2,1m). His skin is completely black, smooth and burnished, without fur or plumage. His physical build is athletic and muscular. He has a thick and sharp grey and golden avian beak, with a serrated and angular corner. Two large jackal ears crown his head. His eyes are green, with a faint glow, and are surrounded by golden philigree markings. He also has other golden patterns over his skin: golden borders on his ears, his nipples, a "winged lotus flower" tattoo in his back, and a papyrus steam tattoo on his tail. Sokar´s neck is also surrounded by a big golden ring-shaped collar, his "suture collar", a horror trinket that almost forms part of him, as it was part of Sokar´s magic creation.
BASIC LORE
Sokar is a necromantic creation that was born from joining the rests of several beasts, using a kind of dark magic similar to the "Carrion Crafting" that some seekers of the deity known as the "Spiteful Sister" practice in Beastworld. Created as a loyal warrior slave, Sokar served for years in the imperial army of Zanuret, the fearsome necromancess who had created him, and the queen of Ancient Arneria. Sokar was also forced to work as a courtier in the luxurious palaces of the desert, where he was subjected to numerous humiliations by the elite of the kingdom, including Zanuret herself and Mehmet, one of her trusted vizier magicians. All this happened a long time ago, and Sokar has forgotten many details.
One day, the memories of Sokar fade out, and he later woke up in the middle of the desert ruins of his former home. Many centuries had past from his Ancient Arneria time. A pirate tiger named Afu, had freed him from the wooden sacrophagus where Sokar stayed dormant for a long time, probably surviving thanks to some kind of necromantic magic. Sokar found himself in a new age, freed from his former masters, so he swore loyalty to the pirate who had saved him, joining his crew.
After a time of adventures in the seas of Al'ar, an horrible storm wrecked Afu's ship. Both the great pirate and many members of his crew died. Sokar had to continue alone and went into the continent, traveling through Allemance and then to Oria in search of a new life, this time totally fred of any master. There he met a mysterious druid who entrusted him with carrying an important message, which Sokar saw as a new opportunity to atone for his past sins by helping this stranger. Thanks to this, Sokar ended meeting his dungeon delver team: Sandman, the ferret somnomancer, Drake, the kobold "drake rider", and Bullet, the raven artificer, and embark on a new adventure, this time following the mysterious guidance of a god much more promising than the terrible deity that his former master worshipped.
ABILITIES
Sokar is a "Carrion Master" Ranger and a "Circle of the Moon" Druid. As a carrion master, Sokar has access some basic necromantic magic, that he learned from his masters of the Ancient Arneria. He is capable of reanimating small animal mummies thanks to his carrion drafting skills. In the other hand, after getting fred from his ancient masters of Arneria, Sokar started to learn druidic magic, seeking to reconnect with nature. Thanks to this Sokar knows various ways of manipulate nature, casting healing spells and also the ability to change into animal forms thanks to the Wildshape.
Sokar is also an expert melee warrior, specialized in dual weapon combat. His prefered weapons are two tribal wooden clubs, that he yields with high skill. He also tends to cast Shillelagh on his wooden clubs, to enhance their attacks with natural magic.
Have to say, Im very happy to finally upload Sokar´s Ref sheet... our group started playing Toboe´s Beasworld campaign around 2023! I´ve been designing Sokar bit by bit since then, until 2025 that finally decided to close this sheet. I have to say Sokar is clearly one of my most beloved PCs of all time. Playing with

It really took m a while to end this sheet.
We started playing this campaign in 2023... I started to draw the first doodles of him back in the da, but the character design and feats changed bit by bit since then so that why I lasted to end the final sheet. But I´m very happy with it. I really enjoyed playing this gryphon!
