Achromatic depict a scene from the chapter "Dea Ex Machina" in the book Watership Down. The one where Hazel is caught by the farm cat 'Tab' and subsequently rescued by the farmer's young daughter, Lucy. Hazel still bears the scar from being shot by the girl's father earlier that year.
Before being caught, Hazel had just chewed through a rope releasing Bob the dog who was guided first by the swift-footed Dandelion and later by Blackberry, leading him to their warren under attack by the Efrafans. A powerful chapter since we know what was going on at the warren at the same time. The clever use of Bob the dog showcased Hazel's leadership and strategic thinking and I always imagined him telling the story and trying to convince the doubting kits that it all truly happened.
It's not an actual 'Deus Ex Machina,' as the story unfolds from the girl's perspective—where the events are entirely ordinary for her. But for Hazel, it was truly miraculous and I loved how it worked out with him being seen by a veterinarian and later riding in a car to a field and released only to show up at the warren after the battle was over.
The chapter title, 'Dea Ex Machina'—literally 'Goddess from the machine'—was certainly chosen because Hazel’s rescuer was a girl. However, I also believe the change reflects the fact that the situation, while extraordinary, does not constitute a true 'Deus Ex Machina.

All of them.
1978 movie: I love everything of this version. Art Garfunkel's Bright eyes is a great theme.
1999 series: Good. I likes the characters designs, The ost, and The ending theme.
Miniseries: more or less. Fire on fire sounds fine, but i prefer a Peter Rabbit's movie animación-like.
The book: It's good. I speak spanish, but i read a English edition. But i thinking about
to re-read it, because i think i didn't enjoyed it as the other versions (and because i tried to add a reading playlist).

Oh nice, a true fan like me. Yeah the 78 movie was as great a telling of the story in a short time as I think was possible. Rosen worked closely with the author to do it right. The TV series was changed a lot for kids but had its moments. The miniseries for its extra 2.5 hours really added little to the story. The book will always be best with all the extra lore and stories told within it. And I forgot about the graphic novel that recently came out, it is quite good. Did you see I have more commissioned art from WD? Check here.
