So over the last weekend, or actually on Memorial Day itself, I made a fresh batch of OCs that were heavily inspired by the leads of a kid's anime I saw clips of a few weeks back. Between that, and a strange desire to want to create a story that is one part homage to classic 90's anime and another part my take on a Saturday Morning Cartoon, I decided to whip up a band of OCs that currently have a vague, nebulous story about saving a world that exists parallel to ours. Of course, this being the Qwertyuioppas Multiverse, things are never as simple as they appear...
Anyways, lets introduce our new inductees, shall we?
Front in center is our hero, Akira Ishimoto! An androgynous, optimistic child, Akira has been chosen by the powers that be to become a hero of a far off land! As mentioned before, they have the uncanny ability to look on the bright side of things and believes in the motto "things just have a way of working out". This, naturally, leads them to being somewhat irresponsible, but they still knows when to put on their serious face when the situation calls for it. As they continue their travels, they learn more about themselves and the world at large, growing and maturing as a person... as ya do!
To the left is Akira's friend/rival, Keita Ishimoto! A stern and serious young man, he too has been chosen to become the world's hero! Unlike Akira, Keita has spent a good chunk of his life training in the art of the warrior, which makes him an unintentional big brother mentor to Akira. While he doesn't prefer the situation, he quickly takes a liking to them due to their infectious energy. Also, notice the fact that they share the same last name? Perhaps they share a peculiar connection to each other despite Keita being native to this world...
To the right, we have Izumi Sakura! An exuberant young girl who possesses a special secret: she is the Sacred Maiden destined to help the world's two heroes! Having lived her life within the Temple of the Gods, she is rather sheltered and knows virtually nothing of the outside world. Despite her sheltered status, her youth and excitement give her almost no filter, leaving nothing hidden about her feelings. However, that changes with Akira's arrival as she uses her status as the Sacred Maiden to travel the world and learn more about it! Because of this, she's curious to a fault which tends to get her into sticky situations far too often.
And last, but certainly not least, the big man in the back is their guardian: Tokamaru "Toka" Kusanagi! A loud, boisterous man, he takes it upon himself to train up Akira and Keita in order to prepare them for the perilous journey they have ahead of them! He may appear to be a bumbling oaf, and is usually the butt of every joke, but his experience with the sword and is raw physical strength is practically unparalleled! However, this does put him at a disadvantage when it comes to foes of the magical variety. He also seems to have innate knowledge of the gods of their world, something that he seems loathe to share due to a certain secret of his own...
As y'all can see, the actual story they partake in is still in the embryonic stage; however, the vibe is definitely there and solidified. In fact, this song from a certain classic anime will give you the idea of the vibe I'm going for... Additionally, depending on the direction I might take it, it'll be best described as "Digimon meets Inuyasha"... iwth the usual Qwertyuioppas touch.
More on this as it develops!
