I'm really interested in the Japanese art scene. Our eastern furry brothers have a tonne going on - a whole separate wing of the community, with their own tropes n' artstyles n' collected techniques.
One thing I think is just real cool is the tendency to 'skip' lineart within doodles. Goin' straight from the evocative rough pencil scratchings to colored pieces leaves the malleable form of the initial sketch in place, without fixing the lines directly into place - lets the viewer's brain determine the true form underneath, while the calligraphy of the sketch implies tone: aggressive, or calm. Cool, ain't it?
