Te' and I have been planning this for some time now. Back when he was running his Pokemon BDSP Nuzlocke, we held a convo about tactics. Those who've known me for some time might have heard or otherwise seen that I've tried Nuzlockes before on three different occasions, all of which ended in failure:
-Black/White 2, I had the dumm idea to try a Blind Nuzlocke, and got as far as the Rival Fight around Crasher Wake.
-I'd tried an Emerald Nuzlocke and gotten to Winona before I collapsed there.
-I streamed an attempt at a Pokemon Black Nuzlocke which got upended by Lenora.
Yeah... I don't have great luck with Nuzlockes. Part of it is I get impatient with them... actually, that's most of my issue. I hate Grinding, get bored with it super easily, and after a time end it early, thinking I'm prepared, only to realize I've not done enough. And for an Action RPG, I can usually brute force it underleveled simply because I have good Battle Sense. For a Classic RPG like Pokemon? That don't fly.
Meanwhile, Te' has had great luck with his Nuzlockes, gotten fairly far in the few he's tried, but consistently flounders with the Type Chart and some of the calls in battle due to Unfamiliarity with any Generation but Gen 1. Take the BDSP Nuzlocke as a sample: the run got to Maylene, where the Lucario stonewalled him with Metal Claw, which secured a buff and led to a Drain Punch sweep. Had he known in advance Lucario was part Steel Type, he might have had a better approach, but this was his first time diving into Gen 4 and as such he didn't have that knowledge until it was too late.
Te'proposed the idea for us to run a Soul-Link specifically because we could both complement one another in this respect. Te' knows Gen 1 best and I can cover some of his Pokemon knowledge while he can cover my recklessness. Thus, we've got Leaf Green, with a Twist~ Tune in to see what that twist is~
