(I did a comic that is more than two panels - go me - and am ruining Blade's hardcore-badass rep in the process - even better! Should I admit this started as a single image - I won't tell you which one - and grew into this monster? Yeah, it did.
Also, I've never drawn a love-seat before. Yes, I forgot about the diamond-shapped ring/marking on Blade's forehead.
YES, I *have* seen a door before. - - Yes, I have noticed the glaring mistakes.
Yes, Blade does his long-long-long hair up in buns and wears skirts (they're called 'manskirts', look 'em up - I totally want one) - no, Blade is not gay. Yes, Taiyo's teasing him by calling him "Honey", however Blade is still not gay. Taiyo, however, is very much bi (though seemingly does have a slight preference for females/appears to be more often attracted to females, but has had one sexual male/male relationship); but Blade is still girls-only.
(Blade tends to be rather adamant about this, considering he does have gay/bi acquaintances.)
Anyway...
......
Yep, Blade's other function in Musicpsycho, aside from guitarist, backup vocalist and headbanging hair-dancer and resident jackass, is that of babysitter for Taiyo - And this is how it started.
Taiyo asked his best friend for help one day... and Blade agreed - Poor umbreon obviously didn't calculate in that: Long gorgeous and shiny hair + kittens (babies) = PAIN (of the not-good variety). Blade should, however, be grateful it wasn't ears or earrings that caught Ryu's eye...
And since the kitten not only survived under Blade's care, but flourished... Blade was hired. And you thought your boss was bad!
Ryu should be about one or two years old here, I'd guess. (He just looks too big in the first panel, to me, but he was meant to be younger.) This is long before Taiyo and Marijke met, BTW - that happens years after this comic does. But Musicpsycho has been founded, Blade and Rowen have recently hooked up, and Katya is about to be signed on to the band (I've pretty much decided that's what Taiyo's actually running out to do... to meet Katya with their Agent, and sign her on as bass guitarist).
What Blade didn't want anyone to know, is that he can actually be pretty dang good with children, despite his dislike of the subject (he does NOT want kids, is 'Childfree, not childless').
Furthermore, when Ryu's older and less barfy, Blade comes to get along quite well with him; sorta like a big brother, and they regularly hang out. Therefore, Ryu actually comes to have a tighter bond to Blade than to his actual mother (and is one of the verbal weapons Blade uses against Kurisu when she's getting way too "mouthy" with him... or, in simple terms: Blade has no qualms against rudely reminding Kurisu just who was actually changing her son's diapers after she's been verbally ripping on him and got him really pissed off).
You know, in case anyone was wondering how Mr. Badass Blade, as Taiyo's best buddy, actually gets along with Taiyo's son, Ryu. And, of course, in case anyone was wondering just how Taiyo manages to reigne supreme over the group, what sort of dirty tricks he's got up his sleeve (Blade probably deserved this). And of course Taiyo knew Blade wouldn't turn out to be a danger to his son (perhaps something of a bad influence at times... okay, definitely something of a bad influence at times... but not a danger) or else he'd never have left them alone - I believe I have mentioned Taiyo's a protective and doting father.
Lastly, is it just ME or does Blade's expression in the last panel actually remind one of Brak?
Musicpsycho, Taiyo, Blade, and Ryu belong to me.
Pokémon belongs to Nintendo.
(No mature warning for Blade's potty mouth, this time.)
