Handling her yourself, or do you have someone else do it? I ran Wizard in the ring for a while... It was fun, but ultimately wasn't something I wanted to pursue enough to put up with all the effort. It seems you spend three hours preparing for a 5-minute turn in the ring -- and with a breed like Siberian Huskies (at least around here) you have to be PHENOMENALLY good to have any hope of making the cut and moving on. Just too many really good specimens and handlers locally... Unless you make it a full-time obsession you've not got much of a shot.
We decided we far preferred dogsport to conformation, so I focused on Rally and Tracking. Plus of course sledding/carting/skijoring and Working Pack Dog.
But, the best of luck to you and Lily. I film the club's Spring specialty here every year, and she looks very nice -- though I've found the longer haired style to have an uphill battle at times with the judges...

My mate handles her right now, but if we get to the point where she needs a different handler we will look at putting her with someone. It is a lot, I will give you that but we enjoy it. And so far, if the few times she's been in the ring she's done well, even placed once over her mother. It really does depend on locations and how well you do. Here it hasn't been too bad, but the shows to the north have been a little more cut throat. And yes her longer coat will be her downfall with judges, a lot don't like it even though they are medium length coat dogs, the coast on Sibes have gotten shorter. But her personality in the ring really sets her apart, she has so much fun.
We are training her to rally and agility and eventually obedience and maybe tracking. And of course Working Pack Dog, as well as sledding/carting when it cools off again :) We have a dry land gig/rig that hopefully we can get up running the fall and winter.
Thank you very much! We'll take all the luck we can get! We have her entered in a specialty in August and hoping she does well!

Yes, both the Sibes AND their owners must have good personalities -- especially in the performance sports. Some days you just have to smile and shrug as your otherwise exceptionally well trained Husky acts like they have never SEEN a retrieving dumbbell (or the weaves) before and chooses instead to run around the end of the ring Wooing at spectators. :)
One of the reasons I love them so. You can't take yourself too seriously around them...

She looks marvelous! Great gait. Like I said I'm not in the conformation ring yet closest thing to "practice" I've had would be Showmenship, but I enjoy it :) The canine sports are a lot more fun though I agree faster paced and just all round more of a rush per say lol! Shes amazing looking though good luck to this girl <3!
