About a month ago when I posted color piece of Carol cosplaying Applejack http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5947758 I got a couple inquires asking if would do the main six characters in a bipedal form you in keeping with my usual style. Well here the first one. I sketched this out quickly a couple nights ago while making dinner.
When first started watching the series I was not that thrilled with Rarity, but as the series progressed I began to like her more and more. However it was "Suited for Success" and the "Dog and Pony Show" episodes that really gave more appreciation for the character. The dress is something I threw together and I had no reference but it is something I could see her coming up with. If can find the time I'll do other sketches of the cast but my job may be getting weird for the next couple weeks.

Oh, MY! Your Rarity looks very fine indeed! Heck, I can think of a lot of guys who'd love to ask her for a dance. Like, say, me.
Maybe the next time you pay Ponyville a visit you should show some of this art to the girls and see how they like it. Of course they may be a bit confused. "Oh dear! Why do I have those things you call 'hands' on the ends of my forelegs instead of a pair of magnificently burnished hooves? And why is my chest all swollen?"
And agreed on the liking for Rarity after seeing the two episodes you mentioned. I know a lot of furry artists who sympathize with poor frazzled Rarity and her commission work in "Suited for Success".

Rarity may be all about image, but it's not hollow for her. She looks for the inner qualities of the pony she's designing for and tries to bring those out, enhancing them with costumes.
Not that she won't make and sell without knowing the customer to that level, it's just she does her best work that way and she knows it.
While she favors dresses and gowns, have you asked if she'll design for a colt or stallion? (Aside from that "Little Lord Fauntleroy" get-up she crammed Spike into during the first episode. If that's what she does, I'll assume the answer is a resounding "No.")

Well, Rarity is a real artist, so I'd say that is almost to be expected of her. And she certainly has the time and resources to do practically anything in the name of design, given that (a) it's her job and (b) she can find bucketloads of precious stones with a thought.
Hmm, just imagine Rarity visiting somewhere less blessed wity an abundance of gemstones and trying to pay for everything with diamonds, emeralds and sapphires. After all, they're so cheap back home in Ponyville...

This sentiment seems to be universal among Rarity fans. I have grown very fond of this fine lady over the course of the season, with those same two EP's making a world of difference in her character development.
