I understand that. I sorta had that happen to me as well. I've always identified myself as being Bisexual since I was in high-school. But, thing is, I've always loved people regardless of identity or any physical form. Non of that mattered to me as a person. I've always found personalities a much more important factor than what people are physically. So it took me a bit to come to terms with that, and I'm happy to embrace a part of me.
