After a few Manga/Anime parody characters, it was time to make one based on a classic french creation. Anyone who has met me knows, that I love french-belgium comic books and one of my all time favourites has to be Asterix. I remember getting "Asterix and Cleopatra" when I started going to school and since then I´ve been reading all of the adventures - the classic era when Rene Goscinny wrote and Albert Uderzo drew the adventures, up until the latest ones created by a whole new Artist/Writer team. Although some of the current adventures were actually quite good, for me, nothing tops the original comics created between 1959 and 1977. Everything in this time period works beautifuly - the hilarious writing of Goscinny and the masterful artwork of Uderzo. Whenever the publications behind Asterix release a new "Artbook" (a book that compines an adventure plus the original ink drawings) I am adding it to my collection. I can´t tell you how many hours I´ve spent not only re-reading the comic but also studying the top notch drawings of Uderzo. There are so many classic Asterix comics and characters to choose but hands down my favourite is still "Obelix and Company". An incredible smart parody of capitalism, with one great gag after another.
