over the last few months, ive been doing tons of sudoku puzzles! i dont know if id quite consider it an 'obsession', but, yeah, its done a decent bit of distracting me from drawing, heh
for those who dont know, sudoku is a puzzle game of a nine-by-nine grid (with nine 'sub-grids' of three by three), and you have to make sure that every row, column, and sub-grid uses numbers 1–9 with no repeats
somewhat simple instructions, but it can get pretty tricky figuring out what to do next, especially if youve never played it like the first 20½ years of my life. i actually have a screenshot of the first time i completed a sudoku (on 14 november 2024, by the way), and it took me 14 minutes to complete an easy puzzle, heh
the main type of sudoku ive been playing is actually a variant called killer sudoku! it has similar rules to classic sudoku, but it introduces dotted lines around groups of cells (called cages) with a number signifying the sums of those cells. its technically easier than classic sudoku, so the 'extreme' difficulty of killer sudoku actually starts you out with zero auto-filled squares, and you have to find out which numbers go where just based off the sums of groups of squares. it usually gives you around 1 to 3 single-cell cages though, so it does give you at least a few freebies
i forgot to mention it last time but ive actually been going out of my way to draw my characters limbs thinner. something ive noticed about my recent art is that ive been unintentionally gradually drawing them thicker and thicker to the point where it started to look unappealing to me, so im trying to scale it back a bit, heh
