Maybe in more civilized corners of the globe, but not too long ago, simply being gay WAS a crime, and in the absolute shithole that used to be the "united states", it's looking more and more like we'll be there again soon, and we simply cannot afford to worry about being "polite" or "politically correct" anymore.
This. Besides which, pride parades are already getting ridiculously inappropriate as is. The past several years have been like:
Pride "We're gay."
Everyone else: "Okay, cool. You have our support."
Pride "No, seriously: we're gay."
Everyone else: "...We heard you the first time."
Pride: "Dude: Check out how FUCKING GAY WE ARE!"
Everyone else: "We'd really rather not see that happening on the stre--"
Pride: "How DARE you! We're GAY, we're gonna fuck right here and right now!"
Everyone else: "Alright, you lost our support."
Pride "We're gay."
Everyone else: "Okay, cool. You have our support."

As we speak, hate crimes are at an all time high of recent memory, trans people are under siege, a straight woman had her case accepted by the Supreme Court because she says she was discriminated against in favor of a gay person, and there is even talk about bringing back "anti sodomy laws" from the fashies while your sitting here acting as if we reached some mountaintop of progress and acceptance, just stop
It's really not beyond a bunch of angsty furs. Pride parades haven't been about rioting in a very long time, but because we're currently under an administration that is hostile towards LGBT people and because it's incredibly popular to hate anything authority related RN it's what people have taken up the mantle of. Just search "pride riot" on FA and you can see these types of posts started about 5 years ago.
Ok calm down, man. I'm just suggesting you edit your comment so it doesn't look like you're advocating for violence against lgbtq folks. All it takes is changing the word "were" to "weren't" and you'll be set.

Nobody except the far right wants MAPs around, the left wing people who celebrates pride especially hates them.
Anyone who believes MAPs are accepted into pride have been grifted by right winged personalities and their cohort. The claim that MAPs are tolerated anywhere near pride is a complete and utter lie that gets fabricated and echoed by right wingers.
