I continue experimentations with my drawing tablet by trying to show a coati in the act of yawning. The lack of references or sound anatomy make this a particular challenge to the eye, and the sketchy use of color makes sure the audience will rather it see something else.

I've learned to keep a little folder of reference photos for things like common squirrel and bunny positions. It took me a long time to train myself to use references, but I generally do now.

That's how I find them in the first place, but once I find one that shows something I want (e.g. a particular posture) I save it so I won't have to look for it again.
