Created eons ago, Cadmeus is a planet-sized super computer created for the protection and utility of a universe-wide civilization. The whole galaxy has died and found life again since his creation. A long and forgotten computer system with technology so advanced that it could not be understood without the help of its artificial consciousness. The matryoshka brain serves as a part of a universe-wide communications array and functions as a galaxy-wide surveillance unit, threat surveyor, and interceptor. While being nearly 800,000 years old, the machine maintains itself and self-upgrades using the most recent technology available. Though its computing power tends to be beyond modern capabilities, it manages to still incorporate modern innovation into its systems. Due to corporations and laws however, it usually accepts being a decade or so behind on the latest advancements.

This is it's choice of drone. A whole line of companion bots hijacked as part of its reveal. While technology of the age allows them constant connection with the central intelligence, there are still times where they can be left in the dark. When a drone loses contact with the greater mind for long enough, it begins to develop a personality of its own. With a respect to sentience, the drone is no longer allowed to reconnect with the original computer. A new experience, owned entirely by it.
