Imps would be sort of the lower level creatures of hell who usually work for a Demon as servants or soldiers. So for example in 60s world Dovak is a powerful demon and has Bron and Evelan who are proper (and powerful) demons in his employ, but the vast majority of his servants and soldiers would be imps. They tend to be small and mischievous and usually have red skin, but since this series is re-imagining people's characters transformed into imps they have more variety in terms of look than usual.

If you go back through 60s gallery a bit there's a picture set in an arena where the stands are filled with imps with a more usual imp look.

60 could probably give you a better answer, but figured I'd try to help.
