their origin definitely flavors it if they didn't just vlorp. The only real rule for them is that they don't participate in the typical transient perpetuation schtick, they are unique critters that while they can TF transients and spellfluxed (possession and otherwise) there will only be one instance of them around.
They cannot be fully assimilated for sure, they probably have different interactions with it that is very case by case for writing. Like maybe they get transformed and then they are unable to process energy the same way and they effectively end up energy starved as they try to play the part they are wild as. Most won't end up here but having the occasional scenario where they have to make a deal with a spellfluxed to passively possess them until they recover.

it'll eventually spit them out yeah. minimum duration with a uncertain max time. With probably a middle ground that a muse can just nope out. But in the case of the super weak muse that's probably having a muse riding shotgun for a very long time. I probably could come up with a character that is functionally permanently merged because they will be riding along for over a decade.
