Final Fantasy IX: Melodies of Life -Piano Cover
UPDATE: To those who believe this song is a violation of the new FA rules/regulations, then go and search the piano book version of this song and play it. You will find it is drastically different! This song will remain in my gallery so help me.
Here is what you get when you combine your piano book of Final Fantasy and your soundtrack, i wanted to give a little bit of me into, so I toss in some glissandi, some piano vibrati, and i even threw on the Final Fantasy theme onto the end.
This game holds great importance to me, for it is the last Final Fantasy with music done by Nobuo Uematsu, and what a way to go. This song, as with all the other songs on the Final Fantasy IX soundtrack echo all major themes and motifs that he was best known for. I hope all of you value the importance of video games not just for entertainment, but for music importance. A game is nothing without music, especially when its Final Fantasy!
I hope everyone enjoys one of my favorite songs from Final Fantasy IX, Melodies of Life!
Update!!!
English Lyrics:
Alone for a while I've been searching through the dark,
For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart,
To weave by picking up the pieces that remain,
Melodies of life - love's lost refrain.
Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why.
We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye.
And who'll hear the echoes of stories never told ?
Let them ring out loud till they unfold.
In my dearest memories, I see you reaching out to me.
Though you're gone, I still believe that you can call out my name.
A voice from the past, joining yours and mine.
Adding up the layers of harmony.
And so it goes, on and on.
Melodies of life,
To the sky beyond the flying birds - forever and beyond.
So far and away, see the birds as it flies by.
Gliding through the shadows of the clouds up in the sky.
I've laid my memories and dreams upon those wings.
Leave them now and see what tomorrow brings.
In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me ?
Was it fate that brought us close and now leave me behind ?
A voice from the past, joining yours and mine.
Adding up the layers of harmony.
And so it goes, on and on.
Melodies of life,
To the sky beyond the flying bird - forever and on.
If I should leave this lonely world behind,
Your voice will still remember our melody.
Now I know we'll carry on.
Melodies of life,
Come circle round and grow deep in our hearts, as long as we remember.

"Final Fantasy X marks the first time regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu has had any assistance in composing the score for a game in the main series."

I was gonna say, I was pretty sure he did 10 as well... 9 was just when he stopped writing good music. XD

You are correct in that he did remain involved in the musical process of Final Fantasy X and up, but new composers were brought in. You cannot rely on Nobuo forever, even though we all want to. It was a chance to give rise to new composers and possibly the next artist on the same caliber of Nobuo.
I prefer the music of Yasuroni Mitsuda personally. Him and I grew up in the same area of Japan, so the style of music is very similar to traditional music from that area.
Nobuo will still go down as the greatest video game musical composer of all time..... for now

I actually have mixed feelings on Mitsuda. On one hand, the soundtrack for Chrono Cross is AMAZING. But a good chunk of it is re-orchestrations of Chrono Trigger music (written by Nobuo). And I actually was not terribly impressed with the Xenosaga soundtrack overall. About one song stood out to me as I remember.
I'm still pretty big on Akira Yamaoka for Japanese composers; he does quite a lot with quite a little, which is not something I know a lot of artists to be able to do.

Nobuo did most of Trigger due to Yasuroni having a severe stomach ulcer which left him unable to compose.
Yasuroni used lots of leitmotifs, so Trigger and Chross sound similar, but yet are separate games entirely.
Nobuo only did about 10 songs in Chrono Trigger, and finished some pieces that Mitsuda had already started. You can definitely hear who did what...or at least i can.

Dude, I'd love to actually do some male vocals for this! This is one of my favorite tunes from FFIX (along with "You're Not Alone" and "Black Mage Village"), and I love the lyrics to it. I still think a collaboration would be amazing. I think we could probably manage "Suteki da ne" from FFX, since I've actually done that one for a college voice recital.
this is a good song indeed. i love the scene in ffix where "garnet" does the la la la part in it. most breathtaking scene ever in ff9. i am glad to own such wonderful games. ff7,ff8,ff9,ffx,ffx-2,ff12, ff tatics and ff tatics. although, ff7,ff8 but most part ff9 is the best game ever that ive played and still play. you and your wife did a great job on this song btw. im sorta in tears listening to this. will fav and download for sure.
