I got my new E-brake handle from www.falconparts.com. This will give me some confidence when testing the new brakes I put in. Having that mechanical linkage based backup is hella peace of mind. Only issue I had with this this is that it came covered in the tell tale mold and pin lines that come from cheap shitty chinese manufacturing. This sort of thing offends me a great deal. I sanded it down to 600 grit, hit it all over with 0000 steel wool and polished it with some whites silver polish. Now it doesn't feel like your going to cut yourself and it actually looks period to 1963.
For those of you that watch my journals, you will know that we are trying to sell this thing now after loosing confidence in the cars safety. In all honesty, it should be safer now than it ever has been with the new drums, shoes, cylinders and break lines I put in but the third time brake failure is the charm. Lesson learned: Do not buy function critical parts from "o'really's?" auto parts. Also, have you ever tried to find a spring kit for 9" drum brakes for a 63 Falcon? It's not fucking easy. I had to get them from a Mustang shop in sacramento.
