Do meteorites serve any other purpose besides ruining your crops?

They are a respawning resource. This one is pretty valuable.. But.. yea its annoying

I had no idea! Never found any during my playthrough, but I'd probably be just as pissed as Beep if a meteorite crashed on top of even a single one of my crops, no matter how valuable they are. I've ruined neighbors' lives in Animal Crossing: New Leaf just because they built their houses on top of one of my flower beds.

I tried to… encourage… specific plots pf land by putting lamps up to keep villagers from putting their houses in pathways and flowers. Can’t remember if it worked. Fortunately (and unfortunately) meteorites are super rare, but still annoying when they land in crops. Why couldn’t it have landed in the animal pens???

I got lucky it only broke one crop. My first save file, while I was still learning stuff, it landed in an even worse spot and ruined several crops.

At this point in the game, I had mined enough Iridium for two whole stacks of ore. Shy couldn’t it have happened sooner in the game when I actually needed it? :p

Ahhh. Late game meteorite does have a feeling of "too little, too late" to it.

I could check, but I'm pretty sure by the time I "finished" the Stardeer save file, I had entirely too much of each ore type.

I think I've only gotten two this entire playthrough? So hard to get. u_u

do you know how the giant crop mechanic works?

Has to have 9 crops in a square, and even then only a few crops can do it. That’s about all I know.

im gonna go a bit into details on how it works.
Plants that can be giant: Cauliflower,Melon,Pumpkin,Powdermelon, Qi Fruit (pls dont do taht one)
Grow Requirment: Firstly for giant crops to grow the plants the plants have to reach harvest rdy can be on the same day they can be harveted. Or you can continue to water the fully grown plants them and the the giant crop can still spawn the next day.
FIeld stuff: so a 3x3 field has 1 chance for a giant crop so about a 1% chance for it to happend per night a 4x4 field has 4 spots for it to spawn so the chance is better. a 5x5 field has 9 possible spots so its 9%. so the larger the field the Much better are the chances. keep in mind placing a sprinkler in the middle will hurt the chances
and last and importently is giant crops dont die to seasons changes (or qi quest ending) so once you got them you can have them as decorations

I love having them as Decorations especially Pumpkings and melons ( cause they are kinda my fav crop )
the other giant ones also look nice
of course tho getting them in a specific Spot on your farm isnt that esay

Interesting! That'll be good to know if I do another playthrough, or decide to continue the file I used for Stardeer Valley! In the [Gross and Weird] Stardeer Valley post, you can see a giant Qi Fruit! (I only got that when I needed to stage the background.)
