1.4 Night on Colibris - Sirius
Prev - 1.3 Ambush - Sirius
Before returning to old plans and heading to the mines, we needed to rest after such eventful moments. To catch our breath and prepare. It was already late. After sending a request to extend the mine freeze and securing four cabins for the crew, fully equipped with everything necessary, I headed to the bridge. Brax, deciding to stick with us and continue getting to know the new team, was there too.
Drake, in his unenviable state, went to rest after a conversation with the bot. Lina, seizing the moment and the captain’s solitude, also made her way to the bridge. I wasn’t planning to sleep. Not long ago, just before these events, I had the misfortune of encountering Gayeard again, and that face haunted every dream, turning them into nightmares. Knowing this, the naga always tried to ease my affliction with her own mesmerizing methods. Here, too, standing by my side and removing my helmet, she worked her charms. She nearly succeeded, if not for a sudden noise from the lab. Giang, spotting the skorlux egg, panicked, thinking the baron would come for it. But that was already impossible.
After reassuring Giang and getting acquainted with her, I, along with the others, settled into one of the cabins.
Brax, left alone for a bit, continued his investigations, now on the bridge. Carefully inspecting and scanning the surroundings, control panels, chairs, and helm, sending the data for analysis somewhere through a secure channel, he took the central chair. By chance, the bot activated the last message received by the ship long ago. Before him appeared an imposing figure, and that same eerie, six-eyed face drew close, uttering in a low, gravelly, creaking voice a single phrase: “One day, I will find you!”

Lina was there too, having decided to keep an eye on the newcomer, and startled him with her presence. He demanded to know what that was. Lina explained it was “Gayeard.” Brax insisted on warning the captain, and the naga headed to the corresponding cabin. But instead of keeping her promise, she sprawled out beside me, wrapping me in an embrace. Seeing this, Brax grew furious, sparking a small argument. He dragged the snake by her tail out of the cabin. This woke Drake, and the spiky one stepped in to mediate the conflict. Meanwhile, as all this unfolded, our brave captain quietly slipped past with a folded blanket in hand, snuck onto the bridge, curled up in her chair, and fell asleep. Soon after, Brax joined her there.
Thankfully, that message turned out to be just an old recording.
