Hodr is the second planet in the Hephaestus system, and has a comfortable earth-like climate. The southern regions have a warm-summer continental climate, with the middle desert region being warmer and having a more humid climate, the in-betweens teaming with dense forests and marshlands. Gradually, going to the northern regions, Hodr has a continental subarctic climate with, vast boreal forests and covered in valleys, although some of it can be classified more as a polar cool-summer or "tundra" climate showing less trees, gradually becoming more mountainous. Intermittent in the islands to the east and the regions to the south-west have more moderate weather and decorated with plains.
The people on planet Hodr are very far behind the rest of the known chimera galaxy in terms of technology, but they do have magic. In Hodr's creation, Della and Hassali aimed to see what their creations could do, should they inject some of their magic into the world. This resulting in a handful of beings with unknown origin being able to harness magical power of varying elements and abilities. Two of these people being Mallene and Himiko. Overall, the planet is of medieval and fantasy inspiration. Although mostly peaceful, the north and south have tremendous conflict simply for reasons of differentiation in ideology; the southern regions want to unite the world under one rule, while the north wants as much freedom and independence as possible. However, the other regions are neutral to the conflict. The desert societies of Afanas'eva hate them both, but many are not against selling out to fight for one side or the other. The rather primitive tribes of the kingdom of T'Hochek tend get caught in the middle of the conflict and are mostly just concerned with being left alone, but often forced to defend their home. The people of the Kagiroshi empire also seek to simply be independent, but there is some minor conflict between them and the kingdom of Aurah over territory.
Hophwind is heavily Norse and Celtic inspired, Breakhaven being more or less a melting pot of European influence, Afanas'eva reminiscent of the Ottoman and Persian empires. Disconnected from the main continent, the islands of Kagiroshi are very SE Asian inspired, namely feudal Japan, Veliren based off the Mediterranean, namely Greece and Italy, and the T'Hochek population is based on ancient Meso-American civilizations, such as the Incans, Mayans, and Aztecs, and somewhat primitive compared to the rest of the world.
Inspiration
First and foremost, Skyrim! The climate and terrain and everything is very much inspired by Skyrim because I absolutely love that game to pieces. The inhabitants are also a direct reference to the Anglo-Saxon wars when the church of England marched to convert or slaughter the Norse Pagans to their religion. I've also always been infatuated with the Ottoman empire, and I didn't have any distinct Asian influence on any of my other worlds, and who doesn't like ancient Japan? Greece also has probably some of my favorite history ever! Other than that, I did not have a planet with magic, and I thought it would be nice to have a more fantasy and medieval contrast to everything sci-fi. Name obviously taken from, Höðr, the Norse god of winter, cold, and darkness.
