GIF: How To View My Animations + Quick FAQ
this is a massive problem i still get, so here's a CLEAR how-to
Let's say you were late to my animation to get the 3-Day Litterbox link, and all that's left is the Discord link. But despite the embedded text on the link, my profile footer, my featured journal, and my profile as a whole explaining how to use them, you don't understand how! Here's an animated gif, and a step-by-step on how to make the animations work.
Step 1: Go to any animation post.
Step 2: Copy the embedded link.
Step 3: Go into Discord DMs, or servers. It doesn't matter which.
Step 4: Paste the link as-is, and the video automatically embeds.
Q: Why does it show me "This content is no longer available"?
A: Discord used to store files forever; this was changed fairly recently. Clicking the link does nothing after the link expires when 24 hours pass; you HAVE to refresh the link by copying and pasting it into Discord itself.
Q: Why use this method?
A: On top of being too lazy to make another social media platform, doing this method gatekeeps my animations from minors (or at least <13) from being able to view my animations. The majority of users have Discord anyway.
Q: Why not use (insert website here)?
A: i- YouTube can potentially delete my animations, even if they're unlisted. Plus, animation theft and dead internet theory commenters.
ii- While FurryNetwork does support videos, it's another social media I'd have to make.
iii- For Google Drive, MEGA, and the like, I'm too lazy to make a new email for inflation content, and I'd rather not use my main email to store all of my animation content + have it potentially visible.
iv- Bluesky/Twitter (or X if you're annoying) are social medias first, and art portfolios, like, 10th. I'd rather not have to manage it.
v- I know that DeviantArt supports posting videos directly, but one needs an account to download files, and you need CORE membership to embed them directly. Plus, knowing the DA community, I don't think I trust it to be the way to hold my animations.
Q: I don't have Discord. What can I do to view the animations?
A: Get a friend to make an unlisted or private YouTube, Google Drive, or temporary video link of my animations; don't spread the link around, or the animation might get "leaked" creditless! The "telephone game" steal has happened with a now-deleted public YT permissionless reupload; I have a "guideline" journal for supporting and sharing my animations.
Q: Do you have a Discord server with all your animations at the ready?
A: No, unfortunately. The closest I can refer to you is either my own Discord account (note me), or
Lattan's server, as I am a regular; and all my animations have been posted there (including some wips :P). My notes are always open, and Lattan'll be happy to have a new member, hehe
That about does it. If there's something I missed, let me know!
