In the course of his duties as a guide of souls to the other side, Veluren was destined to one day travel between myriad other planes and worlds, and at times if another universe's cosmic forces needed backup, he may even be expected to cross the border between dimensions to preform his duties as a Reaper. And so it was he was asked to cross the rift as a training exercise in being displaced through the fabric of creations into another reality, with the aid of his equally ignorant of reality friend Zephyr.
Upon arriving, Vel found himself... different. Shapeshifting wasn't anything new for him, and he was told ahead of time that the laws of each world may sometimes resonate to make him shapeshift into a form that fits that world, in case his natural form as a dragon (be it feral or anthro) didn't suit it. In this world, he was surprised to find himself having changed in a way far more drastic than becoming a Zorgoia or a Kobold, having instead been turned into something vaguely raptorial, with a beak-like muzzle and wings that were perfect for gliding. He felt as though this body was well suited to running at a speed he could only get flying back on Sedd, but he did have a question. "Uhhh, Zephyr, what am I?"
"Trust me." Zephyr said with a slightly nervous look, "You don't want to be a dragon while you're in this world." His tone carried with a hinting that he would probably find out why soon. "Just give me a ring when you're ready, or Sedd will pull you back on its own in a few days!" He added as he closed up the rift, leaving Vel alone with his thoughts. He looked himself over again noting all the resonance he still possessed with his draconic form. He hoped that this species could naturally produce colors like this, or he'd end up having to dodge some questions... even moreso, looking at the feral shape, he was hoping this species wasn't seen as just another animal, or he'd have to spend the week playing dumb and nonverbal at best or hiding from the local sentients at worst.
He couldn't shake the feeling this was about to be a long few days...
Have some TF Tuesday!
So... I actually don't care much for the gameplay on Monster Hunter at all, I've tried every game at my friends' urgings and every time it's bounced right off of me... but I ADORE the world setting and especially the monster designs, so I figured it doesn't hurt to at least embrace the artistic side of the franchise, even if the games have never satisfied me! Of course, my Vampire Dragon who is also a Malzeno should be proof of that.
When Wilds came out, I was (unsurprisingly, like many) immediately drawn to Seikrets, and half-joked with Corrie about having Vel drawn as one, only to actually no I wasn't joking at all here's my commission idea - and she was all for it!
This is canon Vel behavior, if the world doesn't have or is hostile to dragons, his body will shapeshift into a less conspicuous form. Think Kingdom Hearts rules. Of course... the fact his patterns always stay can cause some trouble all their own, but oh well~.
Veluren belongs to me!

Also for anyone wondering my faves as someone who goes purely on design since I don't like the gameplay; Mizutsune, Seikrets, Kulve Taroth, and Malzeno, in that order.
