In his endless dreams, they remained - one pained him, a constant reminder of what was lost whilst the other prickled his skin like thorns upon their branch. Tyrant Shael, the beast who took everything when he deserved nothing - whose darkened eyes burned through his soul as though he was consuming it from beyond the Fade.
And Ard-Ri Padraig, his mentor - his friend, gone but not lost as his spirit had transferred to the Eternal Hunt not long after his body drew its last breath.
In his dreams, they stood. Forever, unable to change the consequences of the past inflicting the future that he walked without either.
But walked, because of the prior existence of both souls.
