8-9 hours, done in Photoshop CS4 with an Intuos 3 tablet.

Ohhhhmy LORD this is gorgeous! Omg look at all those amazing AMAZING colors going on! Oh my lord I just LOVE this! I love the pose and that super-happy face but oh my lord there are just RAINBOWS OF DELICIOUS COLOR JUST EEEVERYWHERE. Plus the fur and wing texture is nothing short of godly omgomg. AWESOME job! <3333
Okay I have delayed on this clearly because I've just been like staring at it wondering what I could possibly say that would wrap up how entirely FUCKING AWESOME I think this is.
I have to say, it's the details on this that kill me: the tail blade, the little tiny wisp of fluff off his fluffball, the scaling/glitter texture on the wings, the two swirls on his cheek and brow, the tiny feelers and skin flute, the whorls at the edges of his tail scales and the subtle, beautiful rainbow above them.
Literally I came to write a comment and each time would just get totally soaked up in all the little things that combine to make this piece brilliant. I am so incredibly happy with how this turned out and can't thank you enough and goodness, whenever you want to draw Zal or any of my other characters, I will be totally delighted to commission you again.

I'm actually having trouble writing something down, myself... you wrote down so many positive things! ;3; I know I've probably said this a gazillion times by now, but you have fantastic characters... I'd love to draw Zal again sometime. LOL. I feel like a ho, but seriously! Not enough polar bear-ish hybrid characters out there.
Also, very random... I think I saw you at Anthrocon. I recognize the costumes in your gallery~ :0!

I think I just like threw a ton of his varieties at you and maybe I am remembering wrong but I thought his dark form was the other one <_< y/n?

LOL, then I guess it works out! :DDDD Yup, the dark version was my other favorite, although really... any of them would be really interesting to paint.
Light, dark, blue... so hard to choose between any of them, lol. ;3;
