And so once again
My dear Johnny my dear friend
And so once again you are fightin' us all
And when I ask you why
You raise your sticks and cry, and I fall
Oh, my friend
How did you come
To trade the fiddle for the drum
You say I have turned
Like the enemies you've earned
But I can remember
All the good things you are
And so I ask you please
Can I help you find the peace and the star
Oh, my friend
What time is this
To trade the handshake for the fist
And so once again
Oh, America my friend
And so once again
You are fighting us all
And when we ask you why
You raise your sticks and cry and we fall
Oh, my friend
How did you come
To trade the fiddle for the drum
You say we have turned
Like the enemies you've earned
But we can remember
All the good things you are
And so we ask you please
Can we help you find the peace and the star
Oh my friend
We have all come
To fear the beating of your drum.
..This song has captivated my mind and is haunting my soul.
It's sad because it's true. :(
I turned the tables. Usually you see the cat attacking the deer. But since I believe nature has a balance, the situation can always flip around. The song is about peace that has become senseless war, and this is what I tried to capture in the image. Maybe the buck is avenging a death, or maybe he dislikes difference. Whatever the reason, the cat is at a disadvantage and did nothing to wrong the buck. Senseless.
I drew this out and painted it using only natural stuff. Dark purple is rose petals, light purple is blackberry, red is rooibos tea mixed with rose, browns are coffee, cocoa, and teas, yellow is tumeric, green is spinach.
The song was originally done by Joni Mitchell. If you want to listen to a really haunting version, listen to the cover by "A Perfect Circle".

No way, you've got some classic vinyl? That's way cool! :D
I've heard a few songs by Mitchell. I'm not super familiar with her stuff but she's got a beautiful voice.
And thank you, so much. It's a little depressing to see so many views but so little comments. I think since they are light pigments and i'm new to this, people think it's crap, and it's discouraging.. but I won't give up. It's hard, but it's gratifying to make colour and be able to use it. And i'm trying to go out of my comfort zone and not draw Icykat all the time. xD
Only thing I wish is that I had more access to more colours. here I thought bright red and pink things would make bright red and pink pigment... Yeah, no. All purple. And I dont know where ot get blue, because I think blueberries make purple, too. :P
Thanks again. Your comments are always so nice. :) <3

I hear you... I put up one sexual picture and the world flocks to view it... and only one comment, haha!
Drawing porn is the only way to get ANY attention! D:
Thus is life on Furraffinity.
Woah, woah, woah! Who said anything about it being crap?
I love this style so much, you're having a great time with it, are you not? Plus it looks fucking awesome.
Please keep making this kind of art, you have to be really talented to make paint out of organic material.
I know I couldn't do it, for sure. Keep on branching out, because you can only learn and grow.
Hmmm...
Strawberries produce purple? Do pomegranates make purple too? And watermelon/grapefruit?
Oh, you! I'm going to make it a point from now on to leave you a comment on EVERYTHGINBFE! :D

It's a shame how people feel they have to overpower others in order to attain peace. I know there will always be war, but still. It's sad to think about the world as a place of constant fighting, especially when a good majority of it isn't even justified.
Thanks for the comment. ^^

Aw dude, thank you, SO much. ;_;
I'm always scared when I jump into new mediums like this, but i've received lovely comments and support from my watchers, and so i'm encouraged to try more of this type of art, as well as try to find more colours to use. I really appreciate the praise, thank you.

Ah cool, do you like APC? :) Some of their songs are incredibly deep. I'm glad you understand.
I didn't want the picture to portray expected violence, which is why I had the deer attacking the wildcat instead of the other way around. It could be retaliation against something, or revenge, or maybe just an overall peaceful creature turning into a destructive machine and disobeying the laws of nature. That's sort of what war reminds me of.
Thanks again. :) I'm trying to improve my dye making, so maybe i'll touch this up or make similar things later.

I'll have to help you look this up because i'm curious to know, also. I know many old tribal dyes were mainly blacks, browns, and reds. I know primitive tattoos used charcoal for black dye, or dirt rubbed into a cut on the skin for a red or brown tone. try looking up
"traditional tattoo pigments" or "traditional tattoo dye" or "ancient tattoo dye" on google. I hear some tat shops actually carry ink without all the chemicals they tend to add now.
