Sometimes I forget that I'm looking at reality, and imagine instead that I'm looking at black lines and shapes on a piece of virtual paper - and then what blows me away is how the slightest turn of a curve, the angle of a line, can change everything. For instance, if you look at the line of this guy's mouth where it turns into a smile, the whole feeling of the picture depends on whether you see that upturned line as a smile in the corner of his mouth (happy) or a continuation of his jawline into his cheekbone (sad). And his eyes, which seem otherwise immutable can turn from blessed to desolate.
