fuk real life, I'm collecting fungus for this lazy kittycat
If anyone's wondered where i've been lately - it's Morrowind. As much of it as the frankly amazin' Tamriel Rebuilt modders have added in so-far.
I'm late to the party of Tamriel Rebuilt (also only recently found out that OpenMW was a thing). I always assumed modding Morrowind to have long draw distance and nice looking water and an FOV that didn't make me hurl would all be too complicated to bother with. Thankfully it's actually pretty straightforward.
I'm doing stuff I didn't think to do in 2002. I'm cheesing the alchemy system. I'm kind of overpowered. I'm conquering annoying slopes and sheer cliffs with fizzy floating elixers. I'm also actually using Mark and Recall. I like using Sadrith Mora's mages guild as hub to quickly get around.
The wider Morrowind of Rebuilt is so full of castles and giant bugs and silly little quests. It's a great place to explore. I'm running around the Indoril lands, slapping the field overseers at plantations, goading them into river shallows and knocking them unconcious so that when they drown in a few cm of water it's not technically murder, then freeing all the slaves they were driving.
Just north of Narsis I locked a slave owning rancher in their own basement and left them there.
The scope for roaming around doing cruel and unusual things to horrible people in the name of fantasy slave abolition has me enraptured like a baby in a finger family youtube hole.
It's like being a nigh invincible John Brown with magic powers, and very a silly looking walk cycle (because of course, i picked the baldest looking Khajiit i could)
Needed to do something that was not Morrowind for a couple of hours. So I half-failed and drew Ajira of the Balmora Mages guild, being chirpy.

People (not entirely wrongly) dislike Morrowind's funny dice-roly combat system. But, when your hand-to-hand skill is above like 50, and you've knocked all the enemy's stamina out and fatigued them sufficiently, you can scamper off, wait for them to catch up, and deliver a sleepytime blow just as they sprint wearily into slappies range. Making them floop into the recovery position so they can think about their life choices for a moment. And it makes you feel like a total kung pow fistmaster.
Dude- I love sandboxer as a subgenre name, that's really good! :D

(i think it's partly down to me reading the quirkier writers of PC Gamer's print magazine at an impressionable age)
Morrowind needs a booklet that's like, full of chunky colorful art that doesn't at all match the game's own artstyle with captions like, DO NOT HURT THE SCRIB, he is a precious squealy grey breadroll with legs, cherish this bumpy boy.
