My half of an art trade with

I always love the much more creative and incredible talent by freelance artist all over compared to whatever crap most corporate companies can push out for character designs.

The only defense I'll give them on that is that they likely wanted to add Peach as a character, but since NSMBU Deluxe was a remake, they couldn't really change much of the plot around to make her playable, so having Toadette turn into her was their solution. That said, it's a weird solution, and yeah, design wise it's lazy and raises a lot of questions.
Now that I can understand, but it's also exactly what I mean. Terrible character innovation via poor solutions. They still could have at least enhanced Peachette's appearance more instead of slapping on a Peach skin, altering the colors, throwing in a magical crown and calling it a day. This however is only a very small example among many through other companies which I won't derail in the comments here.
