Wolves can be friendly

I really hate how they portray wolves as evil in fairy tales and other media. They really are a beautiful misunderstood animal

Same for me- it always bugged me. I was so happy over Balto portraying it a as good thing (as his heritage is what saves the day). being half wolf back in the day in Alaska was a good thing since they were more likely to survive in the harsh conditions.
One of my favorite books are Call of the wild, White Fang and Scott Odells Black Star Bright Dawn where her lead dog is half wolf.

Well, the thing was, that she looked even MORE like a wolf like Balto. And people once again just went for the look.

Even when only half of them would become sled dogs i would take them all. Yet alone for the fact that i'm HORRIBLE weak against puppy eyes. One cute look and i'm defeated. XD

It's kind of ironic that back in that time in which Balto takes place, wolves were seen as ferocious beasts, just like in WolfWalkers. Yet nowadays, lots of people are looking for a wolfdog.

Yeah. sadly some hybrids dont do well as pets- they want only canine company and do not connect with humans. Wolves are a separate species : the breed of wolves that became dogs is now extinct so a crossbreed is not taking a dog back to its roots. If the wolfdog get a dogs brain then it usually works out- like Balto in the movie- he is more dog than wolf in that aspect. So many that are more wolf in the head end up at sanctuary (best case scenario for them) but some are put down due to "aggression" - sadly not even doing anything but showing their dismay over a horrible situation where they are not happy.

Yeah i have some friends who have Tamaskans, and they absolutely look VERY wolf-like.

I mean, if they stand in the forest in the distance you REALLY think its a wolf and only their collars tell you they are dogs.

I actually never met a Tamaskan. I heard about The Noble companion dogs - but they are dogs made to look like wolves via crossbreeding of Husky, Labrador and bordercollie, german shepherd etc so even if they look wolf they are dogs.

I bet. People here can mistake a Golden retriever for a wolf so....XD

Actually, that's what i was told about Tamaskans as well: Outside all wolf, inside all dog. Of course with the energy of a husky. XD


And on big distance you can basicly mistake a lot of dog breeds for a wolf.
